3 Reasons You Can Rest Easy When You Work With UBG

Nothing complicates a commercial construction project quite like performance issues from a subcontractor. For GCs, managing subs can often be one of the most stressful and time-consuming parts of any job. Poor performing or inexperienced subcontractors can lead to a wide range of issues, from project delays to unanticipated expenses.

Finding the right, reliable subcontractors is the key to streamlining project efficiency.  At Unique Building Group (UBG), we understand the important role we play in each and every project, and we take that responsibility very seriously. As building envelope and framing specialists, we recognize that our work often sets the pace for the entire project. Consequently, our ability to complete the right way, on-time, and on-budget, is critical for our partners’ and clients’ successes.

Over the last 30 years, we’ve earned ourselves a reputation as a trusted, reliable subcontractor thanks to our track record for delivering high-quality results on time and on budget. Our GC partners know that when working with UBG, work will be done the right way.

If you’re a GC looking for a high-quality framing specialist, here are three reasons you can rest easy when selecting UBG for your complex commercial construction project:

1. We Never Stop Improving

Training and learning have always been two critical components of our success. In order to deliver high-quality work on each and every project, we make sure our teams are always equipped with the skills and knowledge to be the best at what they do. Here are some examples of ongoing training programs at UBG:

Skills Training

No job site is the same, and when dealing with complex framing, our team recognizes the need to be prepared for any situation that may arise. This means we have an ongoing focus on growth and learning. Our teams participate in several offsite trainings throughout the year so we can provide the best possible work on the job site. Our constant desire to learn and improve is what sets us apart and makes it so we’re prepared for any job no matter how large or complex.

Safety Training

Nothing is more important than safety in the commercial construction industry. We take safety very seriously and have a rigorous safety training program internally at UBG.

Our offsite safety training program exceeds OSHA minimums and helps us establish a wealth of knowledge around best practices. We then turn those best practices into daily habits. Our procedures cover traditional job site hazards, reporting incidents, personal protective equipment usage, and everything in between. Every day, we hold safety meetings to review job site conditions and hazards to ensure everyone who steps foot on the job site has the latest information.

Technology Training

We invest in a wide range of technology solutions to help improve daily operations and safety. UBG is always quick to adopt new and innovative technology that helps improve our day-to-day operations. Our teams receive regular training on software platforms, management systems, and safety technology so we can correctly leverage tech to improve project outcomes.

 2. We Come Prepared Every Day

From the moment we show up at the job site, our team knows what needs to be done and is ready to do the work. Not only do we have best-in-class training, skills, and expertise but we also have the tools and technology to keep our workflows streamlined and efficient.

In order to stay on track, we leverage PlanGrid to schedule sequencing, keep track of tasks and projects, share project-specific documentation, and keep all teams working collectively. PlanGrid is critical for keeping our teams on schedule.

In order to stay on budget, we leverage Plexxis as our comprehensive project management platform. From bid accuracy to cost management, Plexxis gives us the tools we need to reduce or eliminate unanticipated expenses and stay on top of accounting every day. Plexxis is a cloud-based platform, so teams can access important information from any location.

Because we incorporate effective technology into our daily processes, we’re confident in our ability to show up prepared, day in and day out.

3. We Have The Experience

Working with inexperienced subcontractors may help cut costs, but it also introduces a significant amount of risk to the project. On the other hand, working with an experienced subcontractor allows you to rest easy and focus on the overall project operations as a whole.

At UBG, we have over 30 years of experience in large-scale, complex commercial construction. During this time, we’ve developed a solid reputation for achieving high-quality work and being a reliable partner for our GCs. Not only that: we work on big, complicated projects that are often far too complex for other framing subcontractors. Thanks to our expertise, we can often recommend new, creative solutions when problems arise during construction.

Here are just a few examples of some of our larger projects:

  • Block 19
A huge luxury apartment and parking center, Block19 hired UBG to install 540K lft of light gauge steel studs and 200K lft of light gauge track. We also installed drywall, EIFS, and Nichia composite panels. This project required immense creativity and precision.
  • Bighorn Golf Clubhouse and Penthouses
This 80K square foot clubhouse included 300K lft of light gauge steel suds, 400K square feet of drywall, and 2 million lbs of structural steel. We also recommended and deployed EIFs panels on the unique curved walls of the building’s exterior.
  • Flight At Tustin
A 20-acre business campus totaling over 300K square feet of structure. We installed 1 million square feet of drywall, 700K lft of light gauge steel studs, and 160K lft of light gauge track. This building required 30 foot storefront openings without kickers, so we proposed and deployed cold-formed framing box headers for a safe, yet aesthetic, solution.

When it comes to scale and expertise, our portfolio of work speaks for itself.

If you have a large project that requires complex framing, you need a partner you can trust. Taking a gamble on an inexperienced subcontractor can lead to disastrous results and may lead to unexpected costs and project delays.

Our skills, preparation, and experience are the three main reasons general contractors select UBG when commercial construction projects call for large-scale, complex framing solutions. Not only do we go above and beyond, but we’re also the industry experts on complex framing. No project is too large or complicated for our team.
