45,000 Square Feet of Drywall: How UBG Was A BIG Part of The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center in Otay Mesa

At UBG, we’re proud of the impact our work has on people and communities all over the country. As a commercial framing construction subcontractor, we provide the exterior and interior faces to buildings that serve as homes, businesses, and community resources. Our work is visible to thousands of people every day, which is just one of the many reasons why we’re committed to delivering quality results.

We’re also not afraid to think big. When it comes to large-scale construction projects, we’re always up for the challenge. In fact, we’ve earned the reputation for being one of the most trusted and reliable commercial subcontractors on the market.

In 2021, we were honored to serve as a commercial subcontractor on The Salvation Army’s brand new adult rehabilitation center in Otay Mesa. This huge building was constructed to help provide treatment options for those facing drug and alcohol addictions. Not only was this an opportunity to apply our skills in large-scale, complex framing, it was also a chance to help support a valuable community resource that will make a difference in the lives of many for years to come.

About The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center

The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center is a brand new 45,000 square foot facility that was built to help local residents manage addictions while building the necessary social skills to gain employment, develop healthy relationships, and restore families.

The building itself yields plenty of space to provide great care for those seeking drug or alcohol treatment programs. It contains a cafeteria, laundry room, gym, libraries, and up to 2,300 square feet of classroom space. There is also a residential section that includes 36 bedrooms at 240 square feet per room and ceilings up to 23 feet. Not to mention ample outdoor space for recreation such as tennis, basketball, and bocce. There is also a large warehouse for accepting and sorting donations.

UBG Installed Framing And Drywall

The Salvation Army building was one of the largest projects we managed in 2021, and the sheer scale of the building was remarkable. We served as a commercial construction subcontractor with Lusardi Construction Co. and supplied/installed 50,000 square feet of framing and 45,000 feet of drywall with precision. At the end of the day, we were not only proud to contribute to a building that will change the lives of many, but also to meticulously manage such a large-scale framing and drywall job on-time and on-budget. Our reputation for reliability is why our general contractor partners turn to UBG for the largest, most challenging projects.

How UBG Manages Large Commercial Construction Projects

Large commercial construction projects aren’t new to UBG. Over the last three decades, we’ve managed multiple projects that have required over 1 million square feet of drywall and at least 500K square feet of framing. Unique aesthetic designs and architectural challenges are no problem for us; we’re creative and not afraid of special challenges.

One of the reasons we excel at larger projects is because our entire operation is built to manage complex construction. In fact, we’re often selected to handle projects other firms can’t. Our experienced leadership team, skills, expertise, and our commitment to safety, technology, and planning are why our partners trust UBG to get the job done right. But don’t just take our word for it, our portfolio of projects speaks for itself.

Here are just a few of the things you can expect when working with UBG on a large project:

  • A Commitment To Safety: The safety of every worker on the job site is our top priority. Our training programs and procedures far exceed OSHA standards. We’re also constantly evaluating new technology to improve job site safety. Over the years, we’ve earned an excellent safety record.
  • Accurate Estimates and Billing Practices: The implications of inaccurate estimates are far-reaching, so we do everything in our power to bid our projects with precise accuracy. We use a percentage of completion (POC) billing method.
  • Organized Planning and Progress Tracking: Because we frequently work on large-scale projects, we’re equipped with software solutions that help us maximize time, eliminate duplicative work, and avoid costly mistakes. Many consider UBG to be one of the most organized construction subcontractors on the market today.
  • Professionalism: From the moment we step onto the job site, you can expect our teams to act with integrity, honesty, and respect. Professionalism is at the core of our company culture and is reflected from the top down.
  • We Go The Extra Mile: Our quality of work is important to us, and we don’t cut corners. We’re a commercial construction subcontractor that always goes the extra mile to deliver excellent results for our GC partners and their clients.

The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center is just one of many examples of our ability to manage complex construction. If you’re looking for a framing and drywall construction subcontractor to support your large-scale, complex, commercial project, contact Unique Building Group today.
